When we think in developing a website, we have to take into account 5 fundamental aspects:
- The development platform needs to be as standard as possible, allowing the customer to host it and re-host it later, wherever he wants;
- The development platform needs to go with the fastest technological development;
- The website needs to be developed in a content manager (CMS – Content Management System) that allows total autonomy to the costumer to maintain (create, remove or merely change) the contents, whether they are texts, images or videos) ;
- The website, being an important card of the company, must have a good image (template), need to be attractive, with organized contents, clean and inspiring total confidence to the visitants/users;
- The website needs to be easily found by the search engines, since the most recent studies demonstrate that about 85% of new businesses come from this source.
Note: To answer to point 1 and 2 in the previous list, nowadays to choose a open source solution is the most appropriate, ‘cause it’s the only that allows interoperability between companies of web hosting, which the development of the platform is not done through internal costs of the company, but done by thousands of programmers spread all the world, that offer in a free way or in a reduced cost, new features that can be exploited without having “to invent the wheel”.
